Trail riding’s never been more interesting — or fun – thanks to the American Competitive Trail Horse Association. The ACTRA has trail ride competitions throughout the nation, including several scheduled in California. These are non-timed, 6-10 mile rides with judged obstacles (mostly natural) along the way. Each obstacle has its own judge. Riders are encouraged to ride with a group, family, or friends. The trail rides usually take from 2-3 hours, provide a natural setting for your horse and are a lot of fun! At the very least you will enjoy seeing great countryside on horseback and get to know a network of horse-lovin’ trail riders such as yourself! See the ad on page 13.

Standing Bar G Productions presents the ‘Best of the West’ catalog horse auction at the Pomona Fairplex. Have you seen the Horsemen’s Anvil? Made by (and for) backcountry horsemen, it can be used to straighten pulled and bent shoes on the trail. Keep one handy at the barn, in the horse trailer or in the shop. It is light enough to carry in a horse pack, weighing only 5 lbs! The cost is light, too: just $59.99, which includes shipping & handling. Also available for purchase is an optional shop stand. For more information or to place your order, call (800) 406-6638. See ad on page 38.

When you’re the best, display it! True Champion Displays has made an art of displaying those hard-earned awards. High quality, beautiful displays can handle win-photos or action shots for any sport — along with ribbons, medals, buckles and more on an easily expandable display rack. Custom touches like engraved plaques with your barn name as the focal point are available, as well as convenient totes to transport your display to shows. Angela Howe, President of True Champion Displays has been involved in competitive riding for over 20 years. Being a competitor, Angela realized the need for an innovative way of displaying her many awards. Angela took the idea to her friend and mother, Dianne Halvorson who with a design background created these wonderful displays.
