SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO — Culminating a selection process that began in March, California’s up-and-coming stars of show jumping earned their spots on the Zone 10 North American Junior and Young Rider Championship Team at Final Selection Trials held during the Blenheim June Classic I event June 6-10 at the Rancho Mission Viejo Riding Park.

Eight horse-and-rider combinations and another pair of alternates were selected as 2012 members of respective Junior and Young Rider teams after riding toward a cumulative high-point standing over the course of the week. By Sunday, the top 10 riders were named to each team. The top four riders from Junior and Young Riders are named to the team with the fifth rider named as the team alternate and fifth individual rider. Both teams will continue on to the NAJYRC Finals later in the year in Lexington, Ky.

Named to the Zone 10 North American Junior Championship Team were Madison Bradshaw and Katina 12; Haley Schwab and Coya; Hannah Von Heiddegger and Candle Light Van De Warande; and Alicia Gasser and Audi’s Reflection. The alternate will be Haley Stone riding Tyrone.

The 2012 Zone 10 North American Young Rider Championship Team consists of Kilian McGrath on Salerno; Sage Fylnn on Hot Pants; Charlotte Gadbois on Semira De Saulieu; and Stevie Sorenson on Esperanto. The Junior team alternate is Taylor Harris with Candilla.

Prior to the Final Selection Trials at the Blenheim June Classic 1, the selection trials took place at a series of 2012 competitions in respective Northern California and Southern California events.The Northern competitions included the Capital City Spring Classic (April 11-15), the Woodside Spring Preview(April 26-29), and the HMI Equestrian Challenge (May 16-20). Southern California competitions included the Desert Circuit VI(March 6-11), the Del Mar National (May 1-6) and the Memorial Day Classic (May 24-28).
