L.A. Int’l Jumping Festival will move to OC in 2014

Special to the Horsetrader - October 18th, 2013 - Show & Event News

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO — The Los Angeles International Jumping Festival, after a successful 31 years at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center, will move to Rancho Mission Viejo Riding Park at San Juan Capistrano starting in 2014. Langer Equestrian Group will hold the Jumping Festival immediately following Blenheim EquiSports’ Blenheim Fall Tournament. Officials say the two back-to-back shows will give exhibitors “two great shows in one fabulous location.”

“This was not an easy decision, and we put a lot of time and thought into it,” said LEG’s President and CEO Larry Langer. “We had to consider many factors, but the driving factor is one that has driven our business for the past 41 years: to put on the highest quality horse shows we can. We feel this move to a facility controlled by Blenheim EquiSports, an organization with which we have long shared admiration and philosophies, will be the best decision for our exhibitors, our company, and the sport of show jumping in California.”

“We have worked hard to create a beautiful and exhibitor-friendly facility,” adds Stephanie Wheeler of Blenheim EquiSports. “We welcome the exhibitors of the International Jumping Festival and hope they will be happy here for years to come. We feel that holding the two shows back-to-back in one location will best serve the competitors, and we are looking forward to seeing the shows flourish.”

Exhibitors will be treated to two weeks of top-notch competition in one location. The ASPCA Maclay Regional Final continues at the Blenheim Fall Tournament, and while the exact schedule at the International Jumping Festival is yet to be determined, the show will feature medal finals, a USHJA National Hunter Derby, and both shows will host grand prix events – the final time for riders to show on the grass before the fall circuit gets under way. Since many competitors come from long distances to attend each of the shows, holding both in one premier location makes sense and lessens the travel demands on the horses.

Langer Equestrian Group and Blenheim EquiSports extend an invitation for all to enjoy the fun and keen competition at this new festival of show jumping.
