TEMECULA—The Southern California Reined Cow Horse Association “kicked off” its 2020 show season Jan. 10-12 at Tucalota Creek Ranch, showcasing the new venue as well as its talented member riders and horses.

Like all SCRCHA events, the Cow Horse Kick Off Show features cow horse, ranch work and cutting. It was the first of five SCRCHA shows this year—the first two scheduled for Tucalota Creek Ranch and the remaining three set for the beautiful Green Acres Ranch, also in Temecula.

Highlights of the January season-opener included the Junior Working Cow Horse class, where Jason Grimshaw rode Lauren Boychuk’s Little Morias Bet to a 143.5—just a half-point beyond Nicolas Barthelemy on the White Tail Ranch’s Purr D Metallic.

Boychuk enjoyed success in the non pro competition, including in the 17-entry Select Non Pro Limited where she took the title with a 146.5.

Next on the calendar will be the SCRCHA’s Pot of Gold Show on March 13-15 at Tucalota Creek Ranch. The Jimmy Flores Sr. Memorial will be May 15-17 at Green Acres Ranch, followed by the Country Boil (July 10-12) and September Classic (Sept. 18-20), both also at Green Acres Ranch.
