TEMECULA — The California Reining Horse Association slid into California Ranch Company for its Summertime Slide Horse Show on Aug. 21-23. The show was initially scheduled to take place at Hansen Dam Horse Park in Lake View Terrace, but the City of Los Angeles placed a pause on horse shows due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The CRHA was grateful that California Ranch Company opened its doors on such short notice.

Reiners were glad to be back in the show pen competing outdoors in the fresh air and enjoying the sport they love. The show welcomed trainers, non-pros, and youth riders in a return to competition for the group.

The CRHA thanked its members, board, volunteers, and generous sponsors for making the show possible.

Kelly Cooper shined at the Summertime Slide aboard her Dough For It, taking home both the Rookie Level 2 and Prime Time Rookie championships. Another top finisher was young reiner Makynna Barger, who took her All Natural Shine to both the 10-under Short Stirrup title and the Youth 13-under reserve championship. In the CRHA Green As Grass competition, Greg Bratschke and Gunnin For A Shine, owned by CJs Dream Performance, recorded a 69 to win the class.

CRHA will wrap up its 2020 season with the CRHA Challenge Oct. 20-25.
