TEMECULA — More than 100 of Southern California’s top reined cow horse competitors attented the the Southern California Reined Cow Horse Association banquet Jan. 10 at the Journey’s End clubhouse to honor its best performers of 2014.

Champions and reserve champions were awarded with custom buckles from A Cut Above Buckles, while the Top Five were awarded with custom breast collars created by Trophy Tack. Qualifiers were awarded with custom SCRCHA split reins donated by Thrifty Horse in Norco.
One of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of the Yvonne Mathieu Award, a custom saddle stand by Trophy Tack, to Jimmy Flores.

Glen Aspinall took the Open Bridle title on Michele Amon’s Moody Blues Brother, and the Open Hackamore title went to Roxanne Willingham’s Magics Miss Olen Ridden by B.J. Avila.

The Rookie Rider of the year was taken by Aaron M Carr, riding his own RC Miss Nic N Tuck.

The Youth Bridle title was won by Kelsey Lynch riding James F Putnam’s Smart Ronnie Shine, while both the 5000 Non Pro Limited and the Non Pro Limited Rookie awards were given to Tarryn Greenghalgh riding CP Remedy owned by Tony and Cindy Mendoza.

Sue Carter rode Shots Of Cabo, owned by the Rocking J Ranch, to the Open Herd title, and the Non Pro Herd title was awarded to Mary Tamme and Im Bratman, who also took the Non Pro Two Rein title. The Open Cutting title was cinched by Jonelle Denise Castleberry’s Bo Diddley Boon, ridden by Chris G Delmer, while the Non Pro Cutting titile was taken by Melvin Reynolds riding Smooth As It Gets.
