With a history of training horses and champion riders, KPH has earned a reputation of excellence. For well over 50 years, the King family has trained horses and riders in all Western events, and have specialized in reining horses for 35 years. The King’s attribute a lot of their successful training program to their dedicated customers and irreplaceable lesson horses throughout the years. KPH’s slogan is: ‘From Beginners to Winners’. They take that very seriously, with the many champion horses and riders having the show records to prove it. With 15+ years as a dressage trainer and competitor, USDF Silver and Bronze Medalist Dane Lawrence has worked successfully with many breeds. One that he finds challenging but equally rewarding is the off-the-track Thoroughbred (OTTB).

Says Dane, “For dressage, an OTTB has to learn a new way of moving and relating to the rider. Because they are bred to run at top speed, rebalancing them to be light on the forehand and engaged behind takes time. They have to become attuned to different rein and leg aids and learn to move in a rounder, more elevated frame. But if you’re patient, the Thoroughbred can be a terrific partner.”

Tom ForanFor almost two decades, Tom Foran and Foran Performance Horses have dedicated themselves to producing exceptionally trained horses and riders. Tom is an AQHA World Champion (Jr. Reining) and has coached an AQHA Select World Champion. In previous years, he has achieved Top 20 Rider Status and has won multiple NRHA North American Affiliate Championships. Moreover, he has made the finals at every major NRHA event as well as having won multiple regional futurities and derbies.

FPH covers every aspect of performance horse training from colt starting to keeping an older show horse sound, happy, and performing at its best. The same is true for riders. FPH maintains several fantastic lesson horses and are happy to teach riders of all levels – from people who have never ridden before to world champion amateur riders.

His program is designed to help with all the elements of Cowboy Mounted Shooting: from purchasing the right equipment and understanding the rules, to course management and taking his clients all the way to the competition arena.
