Russell Dilday, Jake Gorrell and Jimmy Flores showed up to help teach at the Fourth Annual Surf and Turf Clinic
Cow horses and cowabunga came together July 21-22 for the Fourth Annual Surf and Turf Clinic, a unique mix of California surfing and horsemanship featuring world class instructors of both sports. Russell Dilday, Jake Gorrell and Jimmy Flores handled the turf teaching, while the surfside instruction came from Izzy Paskowitz, Matt Morrey, Joshua Tracy with help from assistants Trevor Tanner and Morgan Lyons — son of Tom Lyons.
Held July 21 on Pacific Beach and July 22 at Tar Farms in San Juan Capisatrano, the clinic was managed by Izzy’s wife, stock horse competitor Danielle Paskowitz, with a portion of the proceeds benefitting Surfers Healing Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to children with autism started by the Paskowitzes. Among the 24 “turf” clinic participants was Makua Rothman, a big wave rider from the North Shore who got to work a cow on Izzy’s horse.
