Equine tapeworms prevalent in Western States, study says
WESTERN STATES — New data shows tapeworm prevalence on West Coast farms as 17.3 percent in California, 36.5 percent in Oregon and 25.3 percent in Washington. A 2003 study in equine parasitology by Craig Reinemeyer, DVM, PhD, of East Tennessee Clinical Research, uncovered the high prevalence of equine tapeworms throughout the entire United States.

CHINO — The Hobby Horse Clothing Co. warehouse in Chino, Calif., was burglarized just after midnight on May 23. According to company president Suzanne Vlietstra, thieves made off with hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of chaps and show tops.

Infant daughter tackles her health challenges with help from friends
TEMECULA – It’s been said that in times of crisis, you find out who your friends are. For the Bill and Kelli Norwood family of Temecula, California, NRHA members from around the world have been the friends that the Norwood’s can count on.
On April 5, the Norwoods noticed that their five-week-old daughter, Ella, seemed uncomfortable. She was vomiting and had diarrhea, which they thought might be symptoms of the flu. When they took her to the doctor, however, he found a mass in her abdomen and immediately sent Ella to Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego.
