DEL MAR — Chris Pratt rode Indigo Farms, LLC’s Cruise to victory over a strong field of 31 contenders during the $100,000 Villas at Rancho Valencia Grand Prix of Del Mar, held on Saturday, May 7 at in a packed Del Mar Arena.
The performance climaxed Hunter-Jumper Week for the 2011 Del Mar National Horse Show, and it provided a little deja vu for the horse and rider duo that last fall won the $30,000 California Horsetrader Grand Prix on the same footing during the Del Mar International event.
This time, Pratt again used Cruise’s blazing speed to outdistance a pair of other finalists with clean go’s in the 12-horse jump-off. The winning 49.824-second go nipped reserve champion Saer Coulter on Copernicus Farms LLC’s Springtime by less than a second (50.684), and it bested third-place finisher Nicole Shahinian-Simpson on Monarch International’s Candle Light Van De Warande by less than two (51.752).
Coulter also finished 10th eight faults on board her second jump-off mount, Cash 51, also owned by Copernicus Stables LLC. Like Coulter, John Pearce rode two mounts in the jump-off, finishing sixth on Chianto, owned by Gerald Moore, and 12th on Son Of A Gun.More Results: See website: http://bit.ly/105B_DM
