Grand Meadows would like to congratulate a remarkable Tevis Cup performance for Khnight to Remember! “Remy,” a 15-year-old gelding by Khutlass out of PS Tatiana, was born and raised in the Santa Ynez Valley and came to Dr. Peter Claydon from Ryding Hy Arabians, as a green broke 5 yr. old. They both began their endurance racing careers together and now have over 40 top 10 finishes, including 11 wins. However, in late 2008 Remy incurred a serious right hind leg suspensory injury and was out of endurance for a year. During that time, he was treated by Dr. Ben Branson of Oak Leaf Veterinary care with A-cell and shock wave therapy and also received Grand Meadows supplements (Grand Synergy and Grand Vite). Amazing everyone, he returned to endurance racing before reinjuring the same medial rear suspensory ligament in mid 2010. Once again, he was successfully rehabilitated by Dr. Branson, together with Grand Meadow supplements (this time including Grand Premium Plus) and was able to return to endurance competition in early 2011. Remy has subsequently recorded 10 50-mile completions with nine top 10 finishes — three in first place. On Aug. 4, Remy set out on the grueling 100-mile Tevis Cup trail together with 204 other horse-and-rider teams. Of the 98 who successfully completed the ride, Remy placed 14th – a truly remarkable feat for this wonderful athlete and his owner/rider! Thanks also are due to Dr. Ben Branson, and Angela Slater (owner of Grand Meadows) whose contributions to Remy’s successful comeback cannot be overstated!
