Lining Up The Future

From the Horsetrader - June 6th, 2013 - Show & Event News

SOMIS — A program of free reined cow horse clinics for youth riders came to California May 31-June 2, as Ferrante Ranch in Somis hosted 42 students for a weekend of learning from clinicians Ted Robinson, Sandy Collier, Randy Paul, Doug Williamson, Holly Marsh and Kathie Ferrante.

The clinic kicked off Friday afternoon with an introduction and demonstration by Ted Robinson, followed by an evening barbeque and entertainment by Randy Paul and Josie Ferrante.

On Sunday morning 42 students broke into groups and learned reining fundamentals, box work and cow work. Participants had a great time and learned so much from the masters of the Reined Cow Horse industry that organizers hope for future clinics. NRCHA President Todd Crawford wants to promote the youth program across the country.

The NRCHA youth board of directors developed a plan to hold youth clinics around the country to generate interest in young riders and to educate them on the sport of Reined Cow Horses. Successful clinics this year have now been held in Colorado and California.
