Arena Dragon

Arena Dragon

Arena Dragon
(785) 256-7009
www.ArenaDragon.com

The Arena Dragon was built with three primary principles in mind: One, it had to break up the hardest-packed footing and leave a consistent, level surface. The Arena Dragon is a true three-stage drag designed to break up, condition, and level footing. The first stage consists of hardened scarifier teeth and shanks that can break up the hardest footing. The second stage consists of a row of S-tines used to break up and clear out footing. The third stage consists of our uniquely angled leveling blade and rake that creates a “natural rolling effect” to break up clods while it levels. Two, it had to be efficient and easy to use with no constant maintenance. The Arena Dragon is designed with no moving parts that can wear out or break down. There are no extra hydraulics needed and nothing to grease, making it the most efficient and easiest to use drag on the market. Three, it had to be affordable. The Arena Dragon is the lowest priced drag in its class. The line of Arena Dragons can be used for all types of riding, racing, reining, jumping, dressage, pleasure and more. The Arena Dragon comes in 6’, 8’, and 10’ models. There is a smaller version – the Arena Dragon Jr., which is designed for smaller tractors or ATVs. It comes in 4.5’ and 6’ models. Easy Rider Arenas
(858) 663-5385
www.EasyRiderArenas.com

In his 30 years of specializing in arena construction and footing, Harry Herndon of Easy Rider Arenas has finished more than 2,500 arenas. His reputation for delivering top tier work to satisfied customers from northern Los Angeles County to the Mexican border is unparalleled. Two of his most recent customers in North San Diego County were Savoir Faire Farms and Deer Springs Equestrian.

Herndon, the region’s first full-time arena specialist in 1985, developed the industry’s engineering standards for arena construction and footings that are used throughout the nation. “Through trial and error, we determined years ago that 2.25 inches of the right mix of sand was the optimal depth,” said Herndon. “The right mix involves washed concrete sand and plaster sand so that the density retains the correct moisture. That, in turn, helps keep the hooves from striking the DB layer below.”

When customers are looking to amend their arena footing, Easy Rider Arenas uses amendments from West Coast Footings (Poly Trac) and Footings Unlimited (Litefoot).

From backyard operations to Olympic-caliber farms, Easy Rider Arenas has been the longest established specialist in arenas and arena footing. The company also has a long list of prominent customers who have used Easy Rider Arenas to perform other specialized services, including expert barn pad and road grading, fencing, arena refurbishing, as well as weekly or monthly maintenance.

“I’ve done a couple thousand of these arenas, and the problem that exists in the maintenance of the arena is the daily dragging,” Herndon says. “Sometimes the arena is done incorrectly and very fast, and that can be a problem. We offer a service where we go in periodically and assure the footing is as uniform as it was when it was new.” If you are looking to construct a new arena or refurbish one with state of the art footing, give Harry Herndon at Easy Rider Arenas a call!

GGT-Footing Butterfly Matting System

GGT-Footing Butterfly Matting System

GGT-Footing Butterfly Matting System

www.GGT-Footing.com

Here’s an August Celebration! Buy GGT-Footing Butterfly Matting System between now and Aug. 31, 2013, and get your footing textiles for free! For this August Celebration, GGT- Footing is accepting applications from around the country of facilities that are willing to be demonstration sites for GGT Butterfly Matting system. If you are interested in being considered, please send an email to GGT@polysols.com with the following information: name, phone number, address of facility, size of arena or round pen and the discipline that will be ridden.

The GGT-Footing Butterfly matting system has been used for arena base drainage, water conservation and concussion reduction. The matting system supports the positive characteristics of a GGT-Footing arena: drainage, right moisture content, cushion, etc. The use of arena mats can significantly reduce the cost of traditional layering methods with gravel, extra sand and the labor involved in the construction. Now with the GGT Butterfly Mats all authorized GGT-Footing installers will have additional options to offer their prospective clients.

The GGT Butterfly design also has a water retention system that minimizes respiratory damage due to dusty footings by capturing small amounts of water through a cup design. The moisture is then released into the arena sand, which not only helps with dust control, but can reduce the need for watering, in some instances. GGT- Footing is the equine division of Polysols Corporation, a textile company.

GGT-Footings K.I.S.

GGT-Footings K.I.S.

GGT-Footings K.I.S.
(864) 804-0212
www.Polysols.com

GGT-Footings K.I.S. “Keep-It-Separate” is a non-woven separation layer used in equestrian arenas. K.I.S helps with water drainage and keeps your footing from mixing with other base materials. This ensures your arena will be ride-ready at all times. Additionally, wet soil conditions in animal feeding and high traffic livestock handling areas can cause problems for animals, producers, and the environment. After the vegetation in these concentrated areas is destroyed, the soil is bare and subject to erosion and possibly hazardous footing for the animals. The use of K.I.S. in these areas will greatly reduce the occurrence of adverse conditions. As with all GGT-Footings products, K.I.S is made using recycled materials! For more information, contact Rex Gosnell, National Account Manager of K.I.S. products.

J.D. Burns Construction

J.D. Burns Construction

J.D. Burns Construction
(714) 742-9752
www.JDBurnsConstruction.com

J.D. gained extensive knowledge about different types of soils years ago while working on major projects such as the Dana Point Marina in Southern California; blasting rock and moving over 1 million cubic yards of sand and rock to create the existing marina that is seen today. He spent many years mass-grading in Mission Viejo for many of the major subdivisions, including the roads, water and power; in addition to being the contractor for a major flood control channel for the Irvine Company which entailed rock, sand, grading and ground water control. This experience and the love of his horses and livestock have created a refined ability to produce footings for every equestrian need.

For example, to create just a basic arena, J.D. prefers to grade with a laser and compact the existing material to drain one percent max; the water should drain off (sheet flow) yet leave the existing material on site. J.D. prefers this method over grading with a crown. When you crown the arena, the drainage high point is in the center and drains off both sides. Over time and use, this crown can be lost. Contact J.D. to discuss all of your grading and footing needs. Once you have him on-site, stand back and watch his skill and artistry in moving your ground around.

Lucas Ground Hog

Lucas Ground Hog

Lucas Ground Hog
(866) 689-8904
www.LucasMetalWorks.com

In 1996, the first model of The Ground Hog Arena Tool enabled arena owners to not only rework the surface with the unit’s hydraulically operated ripper shanks, but also fill in the holes that are dug by a horse when going around a barrel. This was accomplished with the unit’s double grader blades, which allow for dirt to be carried by the unit and in turn evenly distribute throughout the arena. This lets the unit’s pegged finishing roller to lastly compact and finish the ground safely for the horse and rider.

An optional watering system has recently been added to the unit to allow for the user to maintain moisture of the surface in their respective arena. This in essence helps keep the dust settled and not entering the horse and riders’ lungs. The unit’s rippers are also able to work the surface easier with this moisture present in the surface’s terrain.

This unit is consistent every time you use it. Now arena owners, barrel racers, rodeo associations, expo centers, and the granddaddy of all rodeos, the National Finals Rodeo (NFR), trust The Ground Hog Arena Tool to provide them with the consistent safe surface they seek.

The Parma Arena Groomer tool is a great piece of equipment for complete ground preparation in one pass. The Arena Groomer tool uses time proven seed bed preparation techniques – made popular by the Parma Rollaharow – but designed exclusively for the arena. First, the ‘S’ Tines loosen compacted soil and prepare the base; front depth is controlled by the adjustable front hitch. The tines have reversible points that are also replaceable. Next, the leveling bar fills holes and smoothes humps. It is also adjustable to control the amount of dirt carried. At the rear, the pipe roller breaks and pulverizes clods. It firms and packs the base, leaving a soft, uniform surface. The roller is adjustable to control rear depth. There are a variety of sizes available: the 5’, 6’ and 7’ mini models, the 8’, 10’, and 12’ standard models, and the 8’ PRO model. Depending on the size of the Arena Groomer, they can be pulled by medium-size, 4-wheel drive vehicles, including ATV’s, or by tractors up to 60 Horsepower or more. The Parma Arena Groomer ships easily by truck in a simple bolt together package that requires just a couple of wrenches for assembly.
