The CRHA was formed in 1993 and is an affiliate of the National Reining Horse Association. With many horses injured and killed in the Southern California wildfires, hundreds more were displaced to area stables and fairgrounds. Elk Grove Milling of Elk Grove, manufacturer of Stable Mix™ feed products, stepped up and sent horse feed to assist in their care.
In partnership with Kruse Feed & Supply, three tons of Stable Mix™ horse feed was delivered to help evacuated horses being held at the Del Mar Fairgrounds on Friday, Dec. 8. Another 12 tons of was subsequently delivered to help offset the feeding cost of hundreds of horses stabled at that location.
“The need is so great that volunteers were grabbing the feed right off the truck to feed the horses.” said Wes Alcott, distributor partner and owner of Kruse Feed and Supply.
California-based Elk Grove Milling is on the cutting edge of the feed industry, manufacturing the highest quality feed that provides 100 percent of your animals’ daily requirement of vitamins and minerals in a conveniently pelleted feed.
Lincourt Stables and host facility The Paddock Riding Club in Los Angeles are pleased to present clinician Shawna Corrin Karrasch on Jan. 19-21. As founder of Connection Training, Shawna initially worked with zoo and exotic animals such as dolphins and chimps. She used positive training methods that evolved around clicker training and adapted a system for horses. She has been very successful with all kinds of training from show jumpers to problem-solving with difficult behaviors. Internationally recognized, Shawna will work with approximately seven horses each day on both Saturday and Sunday, for people who want to bring a horse to work. Auditors are encouraged. Multi-species participants are welcome, such as dog and exotics trainers / handlers. Shawna will work with training issues such as how horses learn, building confidence, fear of things such as jumping the liverpool, trailer loading, learning complex behaviors like piaffe and passage or any particular horses’ behaviors that participants want to address. There will be a lecture and demo on Friday evening, Jan. 19, to get the clinic started. Much of the work will be non-mounted and will happen either rain or shine. Contact Lincourt Stables at (818) 822-0881.
