HUNTINGTON BEACH — The competition may be hot, but temperatures are cool for this summer’s Surf City Western Series Show Circuit at the beautiful Huntington Central Park Equestrian Center.
The four-show series kicked off May 11 with classes in reining, ranch, pleasure, horsemanship and trail. The kick-off show May 11 had a great feel, and several familiar faces finished at the top of the classes.
King Performance Horses in Chino Hills was well-represented with seven championships. Emma Ikerd rode CBK Holly Blossom to championships in three popular classes, Walk/Jog Open Ranch Riding, Walk/Jog Open Ranch Trail, and Walk/Jog Youth/Amateur Ranch Trail to lead the way.
Kailey King-Hale rode her versatile and athletic Gotta Have Style to championships in Youth/Amateur Reining and Youth/Amateur Ranch Rail, and Didi Engler continued her winning ways this year aboard he Lil Buckskin Baby with titles in Novice Horse Youth/Amateur Reining and Rookie Rider Reining Youth/Amateur.
Rick Baer’s barn also shined at the show, including his championship in Novice Horse Open Reining aboard SS Tough Love, owned by Jesse Coker.
Remaining 2024 Surf City Series shows, managed by Track One Events, are scheduled for July 20 and Aug. 17. For additional information, visit the Track One Events website at https://trackoneevents.com.
