You may have seen the 2024 success stories of King Performance Horses at this year’s reining and ranch horse events. If you are looking at advancing your skills in those disciplines, the King team has a few openings available! Under the direction of Joline King-Pebley, Chino Hills-based King Performance Horses and Riding Academy offers Western riding lessons to riders of all levels, from casual beginners to advanced riders. The barn’s impressive record includes more than 60 years of experience producing champions in the show ring, and the barn’s fun slogan, “From Beginner to Winner” rings true! This summer and fall, King Performance Horses will be showing in the major reining derbies both in and out of California (High Roller Reining Classic, Best of The West, and the CRHA Challenge to name a few). KPH also competes in ranch riding/ ranch trail, and has been successful in the local and national levels of AQHA.
For more information on KPH, see the ad on page 17 or visit the barn’s website at kingperformancehorses.us.
A ceremony to name the next segment of the Camino de Los Caballos Trail along Anza Road and DePortola Road in Temecula will take place July 27, the National Day of the Cowboy, and the entire community is invited! The segment, a short one along Anza Road from Highway 79 to De Portola Road, is at the gateway to the Equestrian District of Wine Country, and it connects to the Pat Ommert Trail along De Portola. It is also part of a loop around the historic Valle de Los Caballos that includes the KenTina Trail segment, named earlier this year.
The right to name the trail was among live auction items at the Temecula Valley Rural Lifestyles fund-raiser last spring. By virtue of the winning bid, Darrell and Brenda Cowan have tabbed the trail the Camino de Los Caballos Trail. The Cowans will cut the ribbon and be joined by other members of the Sheriff’s Mounted Posse and representatives of groups that profoundly support the trail.
Driving the Temecula trail effort has been funding by Riverside County, including Supervisor Chuck Washington’s Third District office and the Department of Transportation, as well as the TVRL. Other major donors included Ken and Tina Smith of Galway Downs, Bob and Erin Brown of California Ranch Company, and the Cowans.
