Buck Brannaman clinics in Temecula and L.A. in April!

If you are a student of horsemanship, you are familiar with Buck Brannaman, who will be conducting a pair of three-day clinics two separate weekends in Southern California next month. Buck will be at CRC Ranch in Temecula April 10-12, and a week later Buck will teach April 17-19 at the JPK Ranch in Agua Dulce. Spectators are welcome for $30 per day, and no reservations are needed. If you would like to ride in the respective clinics, be sure to contact the respective organizers of the events — Juliet at (858) 945-4681 (Temecula) or Sandy at (626) 524-3166. The weekends are very similar, but Temecula will feature Horsemanship 1 and Horsemanship 2 daily, while the Los Angeles weekend will feature Foundational Horsemanship and Horsemanship 1. Organizers for both events ask for cash or check payments only, please. If you plan on attending the L.A. clinic at JPK Ranch, bring your chair (but, please, not your dog). Food will be available at both sites. For additional information and schedules, see the ad on page 17, or contact Juliet or Sandy. You also can find the Buck Brannaman website at www.brannaman.com.

Catalina Ladies Ride photo

2026 Catalina Ladies Ride returns

Las Caballeras is a group of horsewomen that gather together every fall or spring for a multi-day vacation with their horses on beautiful Catalina Island. Plans are under way for this year’s trip, and there will be two ride options: a short five-day ride Sept. 25-29, and the full seven-day ride Sept. 25 to Oct.1. Either one is a “bucket list” adventure on horseback. Some notes:

  • Bring your horse or rent one from the ride’s professional wrangler
  • Cowgirl campground is at beautiful Little Harbor
  • Horses/camping gear is barged to the island
  • Enjoy small group rides in a unique, protected ecosystem

It is a thrill to experience the unforgettable views of the ocean and of Catalina Island, and the camaraderie and experience will make memories for a lifetime. A veterinarian and experienced wranglers will attend to the horses during the ride, which features delicious, catered food, shower trailers and masseuses, and entertainment including campfire music. If you would like to learn more about this fun “21-and-over” event, see the Las Caballeros ad on page 17, or visit www.lascaballeras.com. The email address is: lascaballeras@gmail.com.
