LAKE WORTH, Fla. – Jim Wright of Menlo Park was one of 12 new players selected to Team USPA by the U.S. Polo Association, the national governing body for the sport of polo.

BURBANK – California’s Steffen Peters and Legolas 92 showed why they are favorites to lead the U.S. Dressage Team to France for the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games this summer, putting on a dominant display at the California Dreaming Productions’ Mid-Winter Dressage Fair CDI-W/Y/J/U-25, held at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center.

SUN VALLEY — Stevi Fielding, a longtime fixture in the Los Angeles horse world who also served the area as a top equestrian real estate professional, passed away Dec. 23 at her home in Sun Valley.

Jumper rider Saer Coulter will be adding a new grand prix mount to her stable: Mr. Whoopy. Coulter’s family farm, Copernicus Stables, purchased the Hanoverian stallion (Contendro—Whoopy, Watzmann) from Simone Otus Coxe, according to reports.

LEXINGTON, Ken. — Land Rover, the official automotive partner of the USEF, awardedmore than $208,000 in Competition Grants and a further $56,500 toward Training Grants to 18 horse-and-rider combinations competing at top European and American competions, including at Galway Downs.

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — The man who is no stranger for being the first to reach historic milestones, Shawn Flarida has reached another one by becoming the National Reining Horse Association’s (NRHA) first Five Million Dollar Rider.

Helping Flarida reach this new milestone was his second-place finish at the 2013 NRHA Futurity in the Level 4 Open Finals aboard Tinseltown Fly Guy (Hollywoodstinseltown x Fly Flashy Jac), owned by Wagner & Vandorp. Marking a 224, the duo’s earnings for their finals and go-round performances totaled over $143,000, sending Flarida flying over the five million dollar mark.

LEXINGTON, Ken. — USA Equestrian Trust has awarded $55,000 in grants to help fund four projects by equine non-profits. The awards come on top of nearly $210,000 awarded in May for 10 projects by equine non-profits.
